The loan in detail

What you are actually borrowing

A Home Energy Saver loan is money you borrow and repay in full — there is no interest and no fee on the loan, so you repay exactly what you borrowed and nothing more. Every term below is set by Brighte, not by Solarvia, and reflects Brighte's published program information current as at 17 June 2026.

Home Energy Saver loan by Brighte — key terms
Loan amount $2,000 to $15,000. If your project costs more than the approved amount, you pay the difference.
Interest rate 0% p.a. Comparison rate 0.00% p.a.
Repayment term Up to 10 years, subject to approval. A shorter term means larger repayments and a longer term means smaller ones — the total you repay is the same either way, because there is no interest.
Fees on the loan $0 establishment fee. $0 account keeping fee. A $4.99 late payment fee may apply if you miss a repayment, capped at $49.90 a year.
Paying it off early Allowed at any time, with no early repayment fee.
Who receives the money You never handle the funds. Brighte pays the installer directly, and only after you have confirmed the work is complete.
Deposit No upfront cost on finance. Deposit may apply — your Solarvia quote states clearly whether one is payable, and a deposit is separate from the loan.
Multiple upgrades Approved upgrades can be bundled into a single loan, up to the $15,000 limit.
Who assesses it Assessment and approval are handled entirely by Brighte under Australian Credit Licence 508217, against Brighte's own criteria.

Repayments depend on the amount you borrow and the term you choose. Brighte publishes a repayment calculator on its website, and your loan contract sets the final figures. Solarvia does not quote repayment amounts.

Eligible upgrades

What the loan can pay for

Approved energy-saving upgrades, installed by an accredited installer. All products must meet the program's requirements.

  • Solar system

Rooftop panels and inverter, sized to your usage and roof rather than to a fixed package.

    Installed by Solarvia
  • Battery storage

Stores excess generation for later use. Backup during an outage depends on the product and how it is configured.

    Installed by Solarvia
  • Solar & battery together

Both upgrades bundled into one application, within the $15,000 limit.

    Installed by Solarvia
  • EV charger

Home charging point, subject to your switchboard capacity and the charger meeting program requirements.

Other categories — including double glazing, efficient electric cooktops and insulation — sit at various stages of availability under the program, and the eligible list changes. The NSW Government publishes the current list at energy.nsw.gov.au/home-energy-saver. Ask us and we will confirm what is eligible before you plan a project.

Eligibility

Who may be eligible

Brighte sets and assesses the criteria. This summary is a starting point only — meeting these points does not mean you will be approved.

You may be eligible if

  • The property is in NSW.
  • You own it, as an owner-occupier or a landlord.
  • Your household's total taxable income does not exceed $210,000 a year.
  • You are an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • You meet Brighte's credit assessment requirements.
  • The upgrade is on the approved list and installed by an accredited installer.

You are not eligible if

  • You rent the property. Renters cannot apply.
  • The property is social housing.
  • The property is used for short-stay accommodation.
  • The property is outside NSW.

Eligibility criteria and approved upgrade requirements apply, and the rules can change. Brighte publishes the complete and current criteria at brighte.com.au/nsw. Call us on 1300 728 212 and we will walk you through the current requirements before you commit to anything.

A separate discount stream is being added

The NSW Government has said Home Energy Saver will expand to include discounts on energy-saving upgrades for households earning up to $80,000 a year, or where someone in the home holds an eligible concession card. If you want both a discount and a loan, the program requires you to apply for the discount first. Details and timing are set by the program and published at energy.nsw.gov.au/home-energy-saver.

The process

How it works with Solarvia

We handle the paperwork. You do not have to work out the application on your own — but the loan is in your name, so there are a few steps only you can complete, and the decision is always Brighte's.

  1. Assessment and quote

We review your bills, roof, switchboard and usage pattern, then design a system for your property and give you a written quote with equipment models, inclusions and timings.

  2. We prepare and lodge the application

Using your quote, we prepare your Home Energy Saver loan application and lodge it through Brighte's vendor system. You complete your own identity and consent steps, because the loan is in your name. Brighte then assesses it and tells you the outcome directly. We cannot approve it or influence the decision.

  3. Approvals and installation

Once finance is approved and any network or metering approvals are in place, we schedule the installation and commission the system with you.

  4. Payment and aftercare

You confirm the job is complete, Brighte pays Solarvia directly, and you repay Brighte over your chosen term. Warranty and service requests come back to us.

Responsibilities

Who does what

Brighte — the lender

Brighte is one of the finance providers appointed to deliver Home Energy Saver loans, and holds Australian Credit Licence 508217. Brighte sets the eligibility rules, assesses your application, decides approvals, manages your repayments and pays the installer.

Solarvia — the installer

Solarvia assesses your site and usage, designs the system, quotes it, prepares and lodges your loan application, then installs and supports the system. We do not assess applications, give financial advice, or influence Brighte's decision. Whether the loan suits your circumstances is your decision — for advice on that, speak to an independent financial adviser.

Every installer participating in the program must hold current NETCC (New Energy Tech Consumer Code) accreditation — a nationally recognised consumer protection standard covering sales conduct, quoting, installation quality, warranty support and complaints handling. See Solarvia's credentials.

Questions

Common questions

Is this a rebate or a loan?

A loan. You borrow the money and repay it in full over your chosen term, at 0% interest with no fees on the loan. Nothing is written off, and it is not a grant. The federal battery rebate is a different program with its own rules — see our Cheaper Home Batteries Program page.

Do I have to fill in the application myself?

We prepare and lodge it for you using your quote. You still complete your own identity checks and consents, because the loan is in your name and only you can authorise it. Brighte communicates the outcome to you directly.

Can Solarvia get me approved?

No. We can lodge a complete, accurate application, which is the part we control. Approval is entirely Brighte's decision, based on its own eligibility criteria and credit assessment. We cannot predict, influence or guarantee an outcome, and a Solarvia quote is not an indication of approval.

Do I have to use Solarvia to get the loan?

No. The loan is available through any installer accredited for the program, and you are free to compare quotes.

Can I combine more than one upgrade?

Yes. Approved upgrades can be bundled into a single loan of up to $15,000. If the project costs more, you pay the difference.

Will I really pay nothing upfront?

No upfront cost on finance. Deposit may apply. The phrase refers to the loan itself, not to the goods or to any deposit — your quote will state clearly whether a deposit is payable.

What happens if I miss a repayment?

A $4.99 late payment fee may apply, capped at $49.90 a year. Repayments are managed by Brighte, so contact Brighte directly if you are having difficulty — it has a financial hardship process.

Can I pay it off early?

Yes, at any time, with no early repayment fee. You only ever repay what you borrowed.

Will this cut my power bill?

A well-sized system can lower your energy bills, but by how much depends on your usage, tariff, site and the system installed. We will not quote a percentage or a payback period before assessing your property, and any estimate we give will show its assumptions.

Next step

Start with a quote. We will design the system, confirm which upgrades are currently eligible, and prepare your loan application from there.
